Woes of A SG Girl Living Overseas

If I could just teleport home now and indulge in... ...

Brunch at Symmetry is one of the best!

Jeez I miss this sooooo much :(

And not forgetting the kaya buns from CMC and truffle fries. Out of all, I miss Song Kee the most, I really do. My sis was so close to bringing the fishballs over for me. She told me the auntie even recognized her because she asked about bringing the frozen fishballs over. I MISS SONG KEE :(.

Following isg has made me realize how much I'm missing out. I've been seeing so many great cafes popping up in SG #icanteven. I just hope the cafes I'm hoping to visit wouldn't have closed down before I even go home. Soon I'll start my countdown to the next time back in sinkie land.

Till then.

Recipe: Simple meal in less than an hour

This simple meal for two is easy to prepare and I guarantee it'll fill your tummies! All you need is just 45 minutes and you're good to rock and roll with the food. Just one thing to note, this meal is not one of your under-$10-meals.

This meal features (1) Avocado sardines salad, (2) Drunken spaghetti, (3) Minced beef in tomato sauce.

Avocado sardines salad

Ingredients:
1 ripe avocado
1 can of sardines in tomato sauce
1/2 of a ball of lettuce
1 tomato
1 lemon
2 stalks parsley
salt
pepper
olive oil

Method:
1. Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and put in a bowl.
2. Cut the avocado in the middle, twist it to de-seed it, then scoop out the flesh. Chop the avocado into cubes and add into the bowl.
3. Cut the tomato into cubes and add into the bowl.
4. Take the sardines out and break into smaller chunks, then add into the bowl. Drain half of the tomato sauce and add into the bowl.
5. Squeeze the lemon juice into the bowl.
6. Add salt and pepper to taste.
7. Drizzle some olive oil. Mix everything together.
8. Take only the leaves from the parsley and chop into fine bits. Garnish the well-mixed salad with it.

Drunken spaghetti (Red wine spaghetti)

Ingredients:
1/2 packet spaghetti
3/4 bottle red wine
pinch of salt
20g salted butter
10-12 almonds (for garnishing)

Method:
1. Bring a pot of well salted water to a boil.
2. Add spaghetti to the water and cook for 3 minutes. Drain the water.
3. Pour enough red wine to cover the spaghetti and bring to a boil until spaghetti is al dente. Drain the wine.
4. Stir in the butter and mix well.
5. Garnish with almonds.

Minced beef in tomato sauce

Ingredients:
150g minced beef
1 carrot, thinly sliced
6 tbsp Barilla Arrabbiata sauce
2 tbsp tomato sauce
1 tbsp olive oil
6-8 almonds (for garnishing)

Method:
1. Oil the pan and add in carrots. Cook until soft.
2. Add in the minced beef.
3. Add the Arrabbiata sauce and tomato sauce. Add some water if needed. (Depends on how thick you want the sauce to be).
4. Serve when beef is cooked. Garnish with almonds.
